Governor Hochul Announces Nation''s Largest-Ever State

Produce approximately 19 million megawatt-hours of new renewable energy per year, enough to power more than 2.6 million New York homes. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 9.4 million metric tons annually, the equivalent of taking more than 2 million cars off the road every year.

Systems

Most of NYC''s electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels, representing about a quarter of the city''s total greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). By the end of 2021, we expect our local electric grid to be approximately 85% powered by fossil fuels.
