US utility Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) this week officially opened a 409 MW/900 MWh battery at the site of the 74.5-MW Manatee solar park in its home state. The Manatee Energy Storage Center consists of 132 storage containers that make it the largest one globally in terms of installed capacity.

Florida Power & Light unveils 409-MW/900-MWh Manatee Solar

The battery storage system at Manatee Solar Energy Center can offer 409 MW of capacity and 900 MWh of duration, FPL said in its announcement. This would be enough electricity to power approximately 329,000 homes for two hours and is equivalent to 100 million iPhone batteries.
