The Sovtek line of tubes including Electro Harmonix, Tung Sol, Mullard, etc cannot handle high voltages on the cathode, that is why those tubes are a no no in cathode follower circuits. A cathodyne Phase inverter as stated above also has high voltages on the cathodes similar to cathode followers.

someone gave me a Russian gold lion and I''ll be damned if it doesn''t look the same inside and sounds about the same as Sovtek LPS I have. Both sound good to me in v1 with nice bass response. If you don''t like it they make good phase inverters too I''m not sure but the tung sol 5751 I have looks really really similar in the inside too.
