posts · Joined 2008. #14 ·Jan 24, 2013. As long as the battery fits it should not matter to the tool. A voltage is a voltage. Craftsman has come out with a lithium battery for their C3 tools. As far as I know the ni-cads and lithiums are interchangeable in these tools.

Problem with Sears Craftsman Lithium-Ion 16V battery packs. I bought two 16V Sears Craftsman Professional Li-Ion drills a couple of years back at different times. Hello, Last evening, my Craftsman C3 drill caught on fire. Several sparks and a lot of smoke pouring out of the rear vents near the level. Only had the drill for 2 years, only ever saw light weekend use. The smoke was awful, full of phenolics and other plastic vapors, - nasty. My 19.2V battery is going strong, but this C3 drill is definitely shot.
